In late August 2025, Belgrade became a meeting point for some of the most prominent contemporary icon painters and artists working within the field of sacred art.

The international juried exhibition The Light of the Logos opened at the Ilija M. Kolarac Endowment Gallery, an event that in recent years has grown into the most significant collective manifestation of contemporary sacred art in the region and, in terms of scope and artistic reach, one of the more relevant platforms in Europe.

A documentary film now brings this event back into focus, capturing the atmosphere of the exhibition, its official opening, the encounters between artists, and the spiritual context in which it emerged. The film offers insight into the international character and symbolic importance of a gathering that brought together 97 artists from 12 countries, presenting a total of 130 works.

The exhibition was organized by the Kaleidoscope Cultural Center, with the blessing of His Holiness Serbian Patriarch Porfirije and under the auspices of UNESCO, as part of the global marking of the twentieth anniversary of the Convention on the Protection and Promotion of the Diversity of Cultural Expressions. At the opening ceremony, Patriarch Porfirije stated that “the Light of the Logos of Christ the Lord gathers all present – a true, gentle and all-joyful light, the light of God the Father.”

The event was dedicated to the 850th anniversary of the birth of Saint Sava, the first Serbian Archbishop, educator and spiritual father of the Serbian people, who himself oversaw the painting of frescoes in the Studenica Monastery.

Visitors had the opportunity to see works by artists from Serbia, Romania, Greece, Italy, the United States, Cuba, Bulgaria, Belarus, Republika Srpska, Germany, Latvia and the Philippines, making Belgrade at that time one of the key meeting points of contemporary sacred art.
