This year's edition of the international contemporary sacred art exhibition Light of the Logos will be held from September 1st to 16th, 2026, at the Gallery of the Kolarac Foundation. In addition to a representative display comprising 124 icons by 103 artists from 18 countries, the organiser Cultural Centre Kaleidoscope has prepared a varied accompanying programme.
This event also marks the first major public activity of The Light of the Logos project, supported by UNESCO through its International Fund for Cultural Diversity (IFCD), which ranked it among just 11 projects supported worldwide this year.
The grand opening will be held on September 1st at 7 PM at the Gallery of the Ilija M. Kolarac Foundation.
High dignitaries of the Serbian Orthodox Church, members of the diplomatic corps, professors from the Faculty of Arts and Conservation "Despot Stefan Lazarevic" and the Academy of Fine Arts, artists from Serbia and abroad, as well as numerous media representatives and art lovers are expected to attend.
Four awards and eight commendations will be presented at the grand opening. The names of the recipients will be announced at the ceremony, and the traditional sponsor of the awards is the company ComputerLand.
Over the following two days, September 2nd and 3rd from 3 PM to 7 PM, the Music Gallery of the Kolarac Foundation will be transformed into a large international workshop of contemporary sacred art. The masterclass will feature three different techniques, with renowned artists creating works live before the audience, from the very first brushstroke to the finished icon.
We are pleased to announce the participation of Professor Dr. George Kordis, who will lead the icon painting on wood panel masterclass together with Prof. Dr. Todor Mitrović.
Professor Andrei Musat from Romania and doctoral candidate MA Luka Novaković will demonstrate the traditional technique of fresco painting on fresh plaster, while Cristina and Andrei Railenau from Romania will present a unique technique of icon-making in stone, with Cristina working through painting and Andrei through sculpting.
All works created during the masterclasses will be immediately incorporated into the exhibition and remain on display at the Kolarac Gallery until the closing of the exhibition on September 16th.

The accompanying programme will also be enriched by a lecture by MA Natalija Stokanović, curator of the Museum of the Serbian Orthodox Church and art historian, entitled Representations of Holy Prince Lazar in Early Modern Art.
This is the first lecture in the series "Visual Church Heritage as Inspiration for Contemporary Artists", organised by Cultural Centre Kaleidoscope in collaboration with the Museum of the Serbian Orthodox Church. The lecture will be held at Kolarac; the exact date and time will be announced during August.
More than 20 icon painter-exhibitors from abroad are expected to attend the opening and accompanying programmes, from the United States to Lebanon. Together with local artists, they will take part in one of the largest international gatherings of icon painters in the world, confirming that Belgrade is year by year becoming one of the most significant meeting places for contemporary Orthodox sacred art.
From the exhibition and live creation before an audience, to international encounters and expert lectures, The Light of the Logos once again transforms Belgrade into a meeting point where a centuries-old tradition is not merely preserved in memory, but continues to live and take shape before our very eyes.
The Light of the Logos exhibition and project of Cultural Centre Kaleidoscope is supported by: UNESCO, the Ilija M.
